I still miss Sallie every day. She was my best friend all through junior high and high school, and she was an enormous influence on what I read and how I thought. We fell out of touch after college, although she was at my wedding in 1968, and we became close again after our kids were grown. She was there for me during the difficult period on my divorce, in 1996, and even after her death influenced my life: I think I chose my post-divorce boyfriend, Joel Solkoff, who was a year behind us at CHS, because he also been a friend of Sallie's and could tease me as only she had been able to do. (He and I have since split up and are only friends now, but thanks again, Ed Sacks, for fixing us up back in 2001.) I miss you, Sal!
