William Robert Moleton, who resided at Regency Oaks in Clearwater, FL, died on November 15, 2025, at the Suncoast (Empath) Hospice Care Center. He survived Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma SIX TIMES and had just reached his life-long goal of turning 80 years old at the end of September. One week after his birthday, he was taken to the emergency room and just five short days later, it was learned that Bill now faced a more aggressive form of cancer, Acute Myeloid Leukemia, which is a rare blood cancer. Sadly, less than four weeks later, Bill passed away still hoping until the day before he passed that he would “go home”. Well, he did go “HOME” just not in the way that was originally thought. He went home “spiritually”.
William, a.k.a. “Bill”, lived a full life. He was known by many as a “fighter”, as a "survivor”, and as a faithful friend, husband, and father. Bill was admired for his positive attitude about life, for his sharp mind and wit, for his ability to lead and bring people together, and for his steadfast devotion to lifelong friendships, family, and marriage. Bill is predeceased by his parents, John Robert Moleton and Emily Mabel Moleton; as well as his two older siblings, John Moleton, Jr., and Barbara Phlegar. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Rayna Carol; by their two children, Denise O’Hare (engaged to be married to Jeff Clauss) and Jason Moleton (life partner, Siena Starbird); and by Rayna and Bill’s three grandchildren: Ryan, Kyle, and Ava O’Hare.
Bill, who loved to play football, grew up on the outskirts of Philadelphia and was a proud high school graduate of Cheltenham High School in Wyncote, Pennsylvania. He attended Memphis State University (now called, “The University of Memphis”) where he joined the Kappa Alpha fraternity, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business, and met his future wife, Rayna, on a blind date. A few short years following college graduation, Bill accepted an invitation to join his father as a Manufacturer’s Representative at a company that Bill’s father started, “Moleton Sales, Associates”. Bill enjoyably spent his career crafting, and building, Moleton Sales, Associates, proving to be instinctively knowledgeable, helping to grow the business, and moving its headquarters from Philadelphia to Columbia, Maryland. Bill, Rayna, and their two children resided close by in Ellicott City. Eventually, when Bill’s Dad retired, William took over business ownership until retiring in 2001. For the next 20 years, Bill traveled the world with Rayna while engaging in other professional realms including business park development and commercial real estate. Bill had a vast understanding of business never ceasing to astound those who knew him! Once considered a class clown who didn’t take school very seriously, Bill turned out to be a student of “life” who never stopped learning.
In addition to William R. Moleton’s career and family commitments, he was a Veteran who PROUDLY SERVED the government for six years as a Warrant Officer in the Army Reserves. Additionally, he dedicated ten years to the Masonic Drum Corp and Shriners organization (even marching in Disney World!) plus the Rotary Club in Maryland. He sang in the church choir at Glenelg United Methodist Church alongside Rayna, and he fulfilled a lifelong dream playing for the Orioles “Dream Team” for one very special week of his life. He gave out his baseball cards like they were business cards for his entire 25 years of retirement including when he was in Hospice.
Bill, “Billie”, “Dad”, and more formerly, “William R. Moleton” will be missed dearly. His ability to cast a positive influence on many people’s lives will live forever in everyone’s heart who knew him. Bill was also known to be generous. Before passing away, Bill arranged for donations to organizations he truly cared about including: “Blood Cancer United” (formerly “The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society”), and other organizations.
