I am deeply sorry about Ted. Does anyone know any of the specifics? Please comment ...

The service for Ted will be held on Tuesday at the Pleasantville United Church of Christ where he has been attending and singing in the choir. The address is 3424 Limekiln Pike, Chalfont, PA 18914. It is literally just down the street from his house. People are invited to begin gathering at 1:00 pm; the service will officially start at 2:00. Please pass this on to anyone else you think would like to attend.

Ted and I grew up together. When we were both five years old my family moved into a house almost directly across the street from Ted's. He was always a good, loyal friend, and we spent many happy hours together playing games, building forts, climbing trees, and riding bikes. After graduating high school we went our separate ways, but he still remembered me every year with a Christmas card. I can't remember a single time Ted ever spoke ill of anyone. And I never heard anyone speak ill of Ted. He always tried to do the right thing. It's hard to believe he's gone. For true peace on earth we need more people like Ted Heller.

Thanks to Susan Hoover for emailing me information about the service for Ted plus the following:

From David Huizenga
Yes, Ted was living at the same place in Chalfont for the past 15-ish(?) years. The Cliff Notes version is this:
He was golfing on Saturday but got sick/fever/vomitting fairly quickly and so golfing friends took him to hospital. They checked him out, gave him IV fluids, found nothing extraordinary and asked him to make an appointment with his primary on Monday. When friend called him on Monday, got no response. Went to his house, saw car there, had to break in and found Ted unconscious. Called 911, admitted to Doylestown Hospital, airlifted to Jefferson. Apparently the infection was in his heart valve (replaced), so spread everywhere quickly. Damage to his heart was irreparable, major brain function/damage too. His living will stated not to remain on life support, so Thursday night, with family all there, machines turned off, he died about 9 pm. They were singing Amazing Grace around his bed at the very moment.

Dear, dear guy; so many happy memories and traditions with him over the years. He was the very first person to welcome us to FBC in 1995. Indeed, heaven has gained an outstanding tenor in that choir.

He passed without pain, surrounded by family and loved ones who sang hymns through his final moments.
