In Memory

Linda Stressman

RICH STRESSMAN - Linda Marie: Our angel's wings touched eternity Saturday, December 1, 2007 after a three year courageous battle with ovarian cancer, with her family by her side. Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Iris Ruth Stressman Delmont; father, Lloyd D. Stressman Sr. and his wife, Norma Rowden; as well as her beloved Baby kitty who she had for 13 years. Linda also joins a very special cousin, Shirley Diane Russell. Left to remember and celebrate her life daily is her sister, Amanda K. Stressman and brother, Lloyd Stressman, Jr.; special friend and soul mate, James Rich and his family: mother, Helen; sons, Jeremy and Casey; brother, David Judy Rich. Also her nieces, Krista Kaleb Stressman, Nicole Marie Stressman Chandler, Cole, and Hattie Mae; her nephew, David Libby Stressman, Chloe Ann and Lloyd Dell, III ; her step-family, Vicki Stressman, George Mary Rowden, Larry Pat Rowden, Ray Lynn Rowden, Jerry Kim Rowden, Bill Rowden; her precious Chester; her paternal aunts, Naomi Stevenson and Ruth Goin; maternal aunts, Mary Jane Mitchell, Betty Baker; maternal uncle, Bill Judy Spence.

Linda had a love for her pets. She loved her "little" family as she lovingly referred to us and spending time with us. She enjoyed her days with Jim and traveling together. She liked working out in the yard tending to her flowers and enjoyed just being outside in the fresh air and at the water. She was like a second mother to her niece, Krista and great-nephew, Kaleb Lloyd, spending much time with them while they were growing up. She worked at Michigan National Bank for many years and was working at Kohl's when she was diagnosed with her cancer. She had several friends who watched over her during her journey and she enjoyed going out to eat with them, their frequent phone calls and visits and every card she received. Linda was a kind and gentle soul; she never had a bad word to say against anyone and had a heart for God. She was dearly cherished by those whose lives she touched. Per Linda's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Linda's life and a time to share our memories together will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Open Door, 1730 Burlingame SW, Wyoming, MI with Pastor Dennis Gilbert officiating. We would like to thank her special friends, cousin, Brenda Abdul-Khaleq, Carol and Bear Meyers, Marcia Patow, Barb Kendra, Peggy Smith, and cousins, Charles Spence and Susan VanSweden for their continued support, visits and cards over the past three years. She appreciated having them travel this journey with her. We also thank Pastor Gilbert for his frequent visits with Linda and the family. He was a source of comfort to us all. The family wishes to thank Dr. Kevin Brader, Michelle and Nancy from the Lacks Cancer Center and the 4th floor staff for the wonderful care, love and support provided to Linda during these three years while she spent so much time with them. They never gave up the battle but always worked to find something new to try at each stage of the disease. We also thank our friends from Gilda's Club of Grand Rapids and Faith Hospice. Victory is now Linda's as she dances with the angels, free from pain and lively in the spirit. We praise the Lord for placing Linda in our keeping and those special 58 years we had to spend with her. She taught us many lessons during her fight for life - courage, love, kindness, hope and faith. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the family to help defray expenses, Gilda's Club of Grand Rapids, and/or Faith Hospice. "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see" Hebrews 11:1. Linda is now with her God and has received His salvation. We will miss you Linda but will remember you always in our hearts. Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf
