Michael Jones

 

Michael Anthony Jones was born November 16, 1958 on Edisto Island, SC. He was the son of the late Almedia Jones and the late Luther Smalls, Sr.
He received his education at Jane Edwards Elementary, R. D. Schroder Middle and Baptist Hill High Schools and graduated in 1979. After graduation, Michael enlisted in the United States Army and served his country for 18 and 1/2 years. He was honorably discharged.
Michael was employed at Builders Source on Edisto Island, SC for several years.
His membership at Allen A. M. E. Church begun at an early age.  Michael served on the Trustee Board, Young Adult Choir, the Male Choir, the Senior Choir, and was an Assistant Class Leader.
Michael was a member of Masonic Lodge #384 on Edisto Island, SC.
He was a warrior for the Lord. Michael loved to talk, sing, fish and cook. He loved his family and was a devoted father, brother, uncle, and friend. Michael was a part of a large family and will be truly missed.
He was preceded in death by one sister and brother, Almetta Smalls and Kevin Jones.
Michael leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Elizabeth Meggett Jones; his children, Deanna Meggett, Michelle Jones, Michael Washington, Deran Washington, Breanna Washington, and Aalryah Jones; his grandchildren, Bryant Polite, Jr., Kevin Polite, Jonathan Hutchinson, Jr., and Dy-Leah Polite; his siblings, Franklin Jones (Jeanette), Earl Jones (Jacqueline), Mary Jones, Shelia Meggett (Rodney), Deric Jones (Stracie), Wilbert Rose, Luther Smalls (Doris), Georgia “Gloria” Robinson, Nathaniel Smalls (Beaulah), William Smalls (Vetta), Robert Lee Smalls (Linda), Margie “Annabelle” Smalls, and Kathleen Smalls; mother-in-law, Emma Lee Meggett; sisters-in-law, Ella Pearl Rose, Erica Jones, Lavern Meggett, Marvette Meggett, Elizanna Mack, Carrie Goodwin, Louise Meggett, Emma Lee Meggett, and Mildred Heyward; brother-in-law, Christopher Hutchinson; uncles, George Bazemore and Jonathan Smalls; aunt, Regina Bazemore; three grandaunts; a devoted niece, Connie Gadsden (Elliott); a special grandnephew Trevion Gregory; a special friend, Lisa Ward; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
