Bill was born in Youngstown, Ohio and a proud graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and Xavier University. Bill had a personality that could fill a room, always making people laugh with his jokes and pranks. There was never a dull moment when he was around. Bill prided himself on never turning down a conversation and often went out of his way to seek them. Whether that was at a restaurant with the wait staff or making a car sale during his long tenure at Joyce, Bill had an endearing way about him. But some of his most beloved conversations were his daily calls with his daughter Kelley and grandson Charlie. Bill had a passion for golf at an early age, he loved to play and watch the sport. After retirement, he worked at Signature of Solon to be around the game and enjoy the perks of the club. He cherished every round that he played with his family and friends, but none greater than a round with his son Sean.
Bill was a family man, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin and friend. He was the guiding presence in Sean and Kelley’s upbringing and instilled many of his personality traits in them both. Bill loved any family get together and always had a story to tell or more likely someone had a story to tell about him. He was an uncle to many nieces and nephews who could rely on him no matter the circumstance, he was everyone’s best friend on their worst day. Bill’s already large family grew when he met and married Mary. Mary’s kids Patti, Jackie and Jay all soon became family to Bill along with their spouses and 7 grandchildren. Bill loved spending time with Mary, from their many trips together including two visits to Ireland and day-to-day living with their dog, Lizzie. He was a tremendous animal lover, and over the years enjoyed the companionship of many different dogs. He had friends from all walks of life including his 38 years in AA, which he helped so many through the program. He took his sobriety seriously and it was something that he was very proud of. Bill has touched so many lives in so many ways and will be missed by all.
