New Middletown – A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, September 22, at 11:00 am at St. Paul the Apostle Church in New Middletown for Patti A. Conn, 73, who died Saturday, September 13, surrounded by her loving family.

Patti was born into an Italian steelworking family January 15, 1952 in Youngstown, a daughter of Daniel and Christine Velardo  Scudier.

Graduating near the top of her Cardinal Mooney class in 1970, Patti worked for the Catholic Diocese and the YSU Business School before starting her family.  Later, she worked for several area lawyers before becoming employed for many years at Mahoning County Child Support Enforcement Agency, where her compassion and resourcefulness were valued and appreciated by the people she helped.

She loved to travel, including trips to Ireland, Greece and Italy. A lifelong learner, she shared her love of reading, knowledge and being out in nature. She was an expert in needlecraft, and often gave away her beautiful afghans.  Patti kept an immaculate, well– organized home, and her family loved her Italian cooking. A devoted member of St. Paul the Apostle Church, she served as a lector, distributed Communion, attended Bible study and helped to make pierogies. Patti’s family is grateful that she is with Jesus and no longer in physical pain.

Patti leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Mitchell; daughter Greta (William) Glenellen of Struthers; son Gregory (Shannon) Dudash of Poland; and her grandchildren, who loved their Nonni. She cherished her “baby birds” Gus and Julia Glenellen; and Leo, Jane and Patrick Dudash. She always had a mini Hershey bar at the ready for them. She also leaves Mitch’s family members and many lifelong friends.

Friends may call from 9:45 am to 10:45 am, prior to the memorial service on Monday, September 22, at St. Paul the Apostle Church at 10143 Main Street in New Middletown, 44442.
