Yolanda wrote a quite moving profile for our 50th Reunion Yearbook last summer, describing a rewarding family life, raising her children, teaching, moving in to magazine editing and finally a book, which she called her greatest achievement. Beneath it all was her decades long battle with rheumatoid arthritis. She called it a cruel disease that doesn't kill you but destroys you bit by bit. She wrote that she hoped she would be sufficiently recovered from the most recent of her many joint surgeries to attend the reunion in September. Sadly we missed her there. We'll miss her forever.cindolences to the family she was very proud of .

Dear Yolanda, family and friends,

Yolanda and I were good buddies in high school--eating lunch together often and since I loved her mom's home made bread, she would often trade sandwiches with me.  Sometimes at each other's homes, we would dream about the kind of man we would marry someday and wouldn't you know, we both got married on the same day (July 8, 1967) and couldn't attend each other's weddings.  Yolanda introduced me to more of the gospel and I went to Sunday and Wed evening church services with her at Forest Avenue Baptist Church.   We were in the Bible club at Ypsi High and loved talking on the phone whenever we could.  I am so sorry I didn't get to see her at the 50th reunion but understand the difficulties she was going thru.  I wrote her husband and children that I know she is in her rest while she waits for her new body.  I thank our creator for her presence in my life!  Love and light to you all and God bless us every one!  Love, Bonnie G

I fondly remember Yolanda from high school.  She was an inspiration to me.  I remember that she typed 125 words per minute on a standard typewriter.  I tried my best throughout the years to at least matcher her speed but was unable to do so, even with an electric typewriter.  She was a very special woman and will be greatly missed by her entire clas.
