Obituary

Leo Edward Kinsel passed away peacefully on July 1, 2024.

Leo was born on January 18, 1945 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to Mary and Stanley Kinsel. They moved the family of 9 children to Ypsilanti, Michigan in the spring of 1948. 

Leo, also known as Butch, was raised in Ypsilanti, where he graduated from Ypsilanti High School in 1963. Leo was a triple threat in High School, excelling at Football, Basketball and Baseball. He attended Trinidad State College in Colorado on a football scholarship and went on to be recruited by the Miami Dolphins. 

Leo worked for 35 years as Superintendent at Doan Construction in Ypsilanti and Dundee. 

On November 27,1985 Leo married the love of his life, Donna Roeder. They had two daughters, Kortney Ann and Amanda Mary. 

Leo was very quick witted, and you never left an encounter with him without hearing a joke or two. Leo was an avid University of Michigan Football fan. He always had a fondness for Trivia, in his later years he enjoyed playing Golf and Backgammon. 

Leo is survived by his loving wife Donna, his daughter Amanda Kinsel, and his granddaughter, Mya Kinsel. Leo is also survived by his twin sister Loretta Scarbrough (Lori), sister Rosemarie Mason (Chris) and many Nieces and Nephews.

Leo is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Stanley, Harry, Mary Lou, Francis, Helen, Regina and his daughter Kortney.

He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all, he will be missed dearly. 

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Stark Funeral Professionals (101 Washington St. Ypsilanti, Michigan). Reception to follow.
