Mykel Erickson

Mykel Shayne Erickson, 26, died unexpectedly on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at North MS Medical Center following an accident that occurred at his residence while working on a vehicle. He was born August 1, 1991 in Waukegan, Illinois to Kelly Erickson and Tina Wheeler Erickson Lambert. He was a 2009 graduate of Mooreville High School and received his Associates Degree in Heating and Cooling at Itawamba Community College. He married Mallorie Smith on October 13, 2017 in Lee County, MS and they enjoyed too short a time together as husband and wife. At the time of his death, Mykel was employed as an HVAC Technician by M & M Heating and Cooling. He loved his wife, family, nieces and nephews. He enjoyed racing cars as well as working on them, listening to rap music, and playing football. His favorite teams include the Pittsburg Steelers and the Florida Gators. He was a compassionate, loving, and out-going individual. He was also hard working, kind, funny, and made an impression on everyone he met. He was loved by many. He was a member of the MMK Car Club. He loved his fur babies, Princess the dog, and two cats, Apollo and Adonis.

A service celebrating his life will be at 2 PM, Friday, December 8, 2017 in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Rev. Shawn Martin officiating. A private family graveside service will follow at Tupelo Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday from 12 noon to service time only. Mykel is survived by his wife, Mallorie Erickson of Saltillo; his father, Kelly Erickson (Jennifer) of Iowa City, Iowa and mother, Tina Lambert of Saginaw, TX; grandparents, Betty and Chuck Erickson of Beach Park, IL and grandfather, Tulon Wheeler of Muscle Shoals, AL; mother-in-law, Bronwynn Smith (John) of Mooreville; 5 brothers, David Lambert of Saginaw, TX, Brandon Clark of Zion, IL, Jeremy Voegele (Shannon) of Jacksonville, FL Naval Base, Ashton Bruce(Ashley) of Fox Island, WA, and Kayson Chism of Tupelo, MS; 3 sisters, Madison Lambert of Saginaw, TX, Olivia Erickson and Emma Erickson, both of Iowa City, Iowa; aunts, Melissa Erickson, Tammy Bruce (Mark), Patricia Bates (Steve), Rebbecca Verdon (Bennett), Melanie Bruce (James); uncles, Michael Bruce (Susan) and Jeremy Wheeler; nieces, Aaliyah, Arian, Alexis, Leonidas, and baby Bruce; along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Spiers and grandparents, Louise Wheeler and James McDaniels.
