Albert R. DeFoggi

Albert R. DeFoggi, 76, of Renfrew, passed away on Dec. 18, 2022, in the emergency room of Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 5, 1946, in Butler, and was a son of the late Albert DeFoggi and Anna (Bozik) DeFoggi.
Albert was a 1964 graduate of Butler High School, and received his certification from Penn Tech in electrical wiring.
He had worked as a welder at Pullman Standard until the plant closed, and then owned and operated D Automotive in Meridian. He was an amazing and gifted mechanic. When he was younger, he had worked alongside his father, an airplane mechanic, at the Butler Farm Show Airport.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora, and was a life member of the VFW Post 249 in Butler.
He was an inventor, and loved to tinker with projects. He took great pride in entering and competing in the Butler Farm Show, where he would win first place with his noodles and pickles. Always known for his quick wit and sense of humor, he was a great storyteller with an infectious laugh.
He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam as a heavy vehicle driver.
Surviving is his longtime loving companion, Anita "Dee" Stevens; his three children, Ann Marie (John Garing Jr.) Garing of Chicora, Brian (Colby) DeFoggi of Butler, and Renee (Faith) Brittner of Renfrew; five grandchildren, John Garing III, Ashton Garing, Kelsie (Logan) Bergbigler, Kortney (Eli Simmers) DeFoggi and Shayna DeFoggi; two sisters, Carol (Lou) Jerry of Butler, and Joanne Weiss of Florida; his beloved dog, Bruno; a number of nieces and nephews; and his field trip buddies Buck, Paul, Tom, Larry and Travis.
DEFOGGI - Private services for Albert R. DeFoggi, who died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2022, will be held for his family.
A celebration of life is being planned and will be announced at a later time.
Arrangements are being handled by GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.
