William J. Heaton III
William J. Heaton III, 63, of Grandview Boulevard died March 9. He passed away in Cape Canaveral, Fla., where he and his wife lived in the winter.
Born July 21, 1946, in Oil City, he was the son of the late William J. Heaton Jr. His mother was the late Neva Wise Heaton.
Bill worked for Armco for 31 years in the masonry department. He was a journeyman bricklayer.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 117 in Butler, and he belonged to various golf leagues and enjoyed bowling.
Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he was a airdale, served as a jet engine mechanic and achieved the rank of 2nd class petty officer during the Vietnam War.
Bill is survived by his wife, Philomenia Morabit Heaton. They were married June 4, 1966, and had been married for 43 years. He also is survived by one daughter, Sheri Henderson and her husband, Ronald, of Butler; one grandson, Zachary Henderson; one sister, Michel Jane Gotwals and her husband, Stephen, of Columbus, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
HEATON - Friends of William J. Heaton III, who died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler. Prayer services will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Father James Dolan of St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church officiating. Inurnment will take place in the St. Michaels Cemetery mausoleum.
Military honors were observed by the U.S. Navy at the Veterans Memorial Park in Cape Canaveral.
