In Memory

Philip N. "Rosenbauer"

Philip N. Rosenbauer

Philip N. Rosenbauer, 75, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 4, 2022. He will always be remembered by those who knew and loved him for his compassion, generosity, and gentle spirit.
Philip was born in Pittsburgh on May 7, 1946, and was the son of the late Dorothy Schultz Rosenbauer and Leo Rosenbauer. He married the love of his life, Diane Rosenbauer, on April 30, 1983; they were just about to celebrate their 39th wedding anniversary together.
Philip graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in political science and served as the executive director of The Arc of Butler County for 32 years. He was a member of the National Conference of Executives of the Arc (NCE) and the Pennsylvania Conference of Executives of the Arc (PCE) until retiring in 2012. He was also a board member on the PAR Board of Directors and the Tri-County Workforce Investment Board. Philip was a graduate of the Grantsmanship Center Training Program, and a member of both the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and the Pittsburgh Planned Giving Council.
After retiring, he continued to volunteer as an advocate for students and families receiving special education services in Butler.
When he was not doing advocacy work or spending time with his family, he enjoyed reading and caring for his fruit trees in the backyard - faithfully tending to them whether or not they produced fruit. He was a lifelong baseball fan and enjoyed rooting for the Brooklyn Dodgers, and later, the Pittsburgh Pirates - whether or not they (like his trees) had a fruitful season.
Philip is survived by his beloved wife, Diane D. Rosenbauer; his daughter, Lara (Eric) Eury; grandson, Jonathan (Brianne) Major; great-granddaughter, Laurel Joy Major; brother, Gerald (Nadine) Rosenbauer; sister-in-law, MaryLee Rosenbauer; sister-in-law, Deborah Rosenbauer; brother-in-law, Tom Grontkowski and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, Audrey Rosenbauer, Christine Grontkowski, Leo Rosenbauer, and Jude Rosenbauer.
