Survivors in addition to his mother Joan, and wife Ellen, include his two daughters Heather L. Dziarcak of Clifton Park, Melissa J. Gordon of Troy, proud grandfather of William D. Dziarcak and Sophie M. Dziarcak, his three brothers Perry M. Gordon (Kate) of Oxford, Ohio, Paul R. Gordon (MaryAnne) of Troy, Jeffrey A. Gordon of Troy, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews

Peter enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1975 to serve his country. He served at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas and Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska assigned to the Strategic Air Command. He also served in the Air Force Intelligence Unit in the Strategic Air Command for two years at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany, where he was promoted to Sergeant in 1980. Peter returned home and became a Troy Police Officer in 1980; he worked with the patrol and traffic units, retiring February of 2013.
