I was so hoping that this would happen. Colin Powell has publicly announced that he is supporting Barack Obama!

I have had a few people complain to me about the reunion date. Is there anyway possible that this date can be changed? What happened to the first choices that we had like the summer months of June and July??????? Plenty of people are trying to back out because of this and I don't want them to!!!! I want this to be an affair to remember!!! Plus I want to see everyone!!!!

It is so odd that "so many" people have a problem with the month of October when the majority of classmates voted for October. The voting results will be emailed to the entire class. Two surveys were held and in both instances October was the prevailing date. I am happy to see that classmates are beginning to participate in the Message Forum. That is wonderful. We need dialogue.

The Board has a wonderful schedule planned for the reunion, and all in attendance will certainly be pleased and enjoy. It is indeed impossible to please everyone, but we will continue to do our utmost to ensure that the majority is satisfied. There are an abundance of opportunities for classmate participation in executing the tasks that must be completed in preperation for our class reunion. I and the rest of the Board am sure we will get as much participation as we are getting now. Thanks and I hope to see everyone at the class reunion.

I really don't know if I'll be able to make it to the reunion now. I have to go back to Iraq July '09. I was hoping to get to see everyone right before I deployed. Maybe something good will happen and I won't have to go back to the sand box. If not, I hope everybody has a good time.

Two surveys have been posted for each classmate to vote on the reunion date. I know that I have personnally sent email messages to many classmates via myspace, facebook, and by word of mouth. Many of those people have not even registered, but have still frequented both myspace and facebook, so computer access is not the issue. This website has been up for quite some time. Telisha posted the first message 03/08, and the next posting was not until 09/08. The survey results have been emailed to each member, and as can be seen, there is NO BACK ROOM POLITICS at work. The date listed, is the date that received the most votes. Although the date might not be pleasing to all, OF THOSE THAT VOTED, it was the date that they wanted. All suggestions are appreciated and taken into consideration, because each class member's opinion is valued. However, The time for discussion on the date was during the two surveys.

It is out of character for me to make a posting as such, however Mario clearly I have been riding with you on this since Feb. Accomplished????????? I created this site in March along with an e-mail account and such....however there was no feedback from anyone until the Executive Board was formed. We seem to be on the ball now. Clearly a class reunion is just what it says & not a back yard “cookout”. Please everyone let's do this reunion with class & in order.

I personally know that I would be highly insulted as an adult if I had someone telling me that they could make a better decision for me than I could make for myself. We are all adults capable of making an informed decision concerning what we desire. It is so imperative in choosing a leader, such as Barack Obama, that supporters know the prospective leader's capabilities and strong points as well as his or her weaknesses.

Before anyone could ever serve in a leadership position over a group in which I decided to participate, that person would firstly have to be articulate both verbally and in written form. I would never trust my well being to someone who makes rash decisions, wishes to be a dictator and not listen to the masses, and certainly not one who does not exhibit nor exercise rudimentary grammatical knowledge when communicating with me via written text.

As has often been said, "One monkey does not stop the show." And as my father told me, "If he does, then it wasn't a show to start with." I have never been timid to stand alone. However, fortunately I have support of like-minded individuals. I’m sure at this juncture in our lives we have all had the opportunity to become a part of some organized civic or social group. If that is the case, then we should all know the proper procedures and protocol for making executive decisions and group decisions. Nothing unethical has transpired thus far, except this foolishness being unnecessarily created. Please feel free to express yourself, however know this, if my name comes up I am bound to personally defend myself. And for future reference Gerrick, I’m no Republican.

This is indeed an all time record for message forum correspondence in one day! Go Team!!!

Mr. Vicks, first I didn't call you a republican. Secondly, it was only a joke. But I do think you may make a great politician one day. I do agree with us all working together to get this matter under control. Everybody lighten up this is suppose to be an occasion of good times, memories and laughs. With that said I being the Vice-President of DECA motion to have the DECA Store open back up for the class reunion so I can use the money to pay my mortgage. Times getting rough I NEED MONEY!!!

10/21/08 03:02 PM #20

Clinton Vicks

Gerrick. I didn't take offense. You know I'm not sensitive about jokes as much as we used to joke on each other. And I, as the DECA President, would like to second that motion, because I need to pay my car note. LOL

LaToya Paige

LOL, alright DECA President and Vice-President! Thank you all for helping me celebrate my birthday (June 12th) AND the reunion! *smile*

Can't wait to see all of you...life is hectic, but I will stay available and do what I can to make sure we have a good time!

10/21/08 04:15 PM #22

Lavonda Lavant

Lord, I didn't think it would escalate to this guys!!!! People, please, lets all agree in a positive manner!!!!! I want everything to work out!!!!!! Do you all think it would be better to select three different dates again and allow everyone to vote again? Also, it would give those individuals who registered late to the site a chance to give some feedback as well??? I am just thinking of ways that we can make this work and please people all in one. But whatever you all decide to do, I am there. Thanks.

Hello classmates
I am really looking forward to seeing you all, yet it upsets me to see all the feedback posted on the message board. I feel that we all should have a voice in the matter of "OUR" class reunion but it should be done fair. If a poll was set up to decide the dates that "OUR" reunion would take place, why are we having this conversation now? Did you vote? It's almost like the presidental vote. We complain about how our country is being ran yet we don't make the time to go to the polls and make a difference. Sorry if I step on anyone's toes but I believe in doing whats right whether its in my favor or not. In my opinion, and I do have the right to have one, MAJORITY SHOULD RULE!!!

Greetings my fellow classmates! I can not help but respond to the commotion I received through my personal email, which led me to the message board. If anyone has viewed my profile message, my only request was for "The Class of 1999" reunion to happen with style and class. At this present time, there exists NO style or Class.

As you may notice, I have not pointed any fingers at anyone because I totally understand the efforts from everyone. Since pledging, I have learned the true meaning of accountability when it comes to a group. If one does not understand who is accountable for this class reunion...Well, it is "US"!!

I am not sure if anyone paid attention to the class of 1998 reunion this past year. I was able to see pictures from both Dougherty and Monroe Class of 1998. Wow, what a difference!! I will not state which school had the superior reunion, but I know you can see I did not mention DCHS Class of 1998 on top. Monroe class of 1999 has already told me their reunion will be better. With that being said, I have always had a competitive spirit and I am still a "Trojan-born" Nader Hater.

Now, the prices have already been set to $125 + postage (stamps $0.42) + air fare ($400)! LOL!! I refuse to send my money for anything half-class because I know we are ONE Class. I challenge everyone to get involved with all planning for the reunion in order for the Class of 1999 to SHINE. Don't make me come all the way from Las Vegas for a trip to the Legions.

Class Board, please let me know if I may assist in any planning, donations, or any committees. Count me in!!

Well damn! What happened? I cannot come in Oct! That is retarded! We ALL have to think of the mothers and fathers with careers and children in school. Are we suppose to leave our families or take our kids outta school for this? Raise your hand if yo' mama got you outta school for her reunion?? For those of us in other states/countries we ALL need to be considerate and agree on a summer month. I don't think it will be a backyard BBQ and how about giving people a fair chance instead of shutting things down!! Be positive damn!! And with all those quotes and politics--that don't mean nothing! I wanna come, eat , joke , laugh and have a good time with everyone! I know I always say some messed up stuff but this has gotta stop! We are ALL adults and NO one is better or more high class than anyone so let's please get our asses outta the air and let's do this damn thang!
And bout that DECA store-- I ran the cash register so you know we go be a little short this month:) If anyone has a problem with any things going on I have no problem steppin' in and resuming their position. Please call me! I am here to make this a memorable event for us all! I ain't waited 10 years for nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We did consider the parents when selecting the dates to be voted upon for the reunion. In selecting the dates, we did offer two dates in the summer months, which were June and July. Based upon the response from the survey, more people chose October instead of the other two. The reunion is Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The only day that children would have to be taken out of school is that Friday, unless someone chose to leave on Thursday to get to town early. The event for Friday will not begin until that evening, so there is no need to arrive early in the day, unless so desired. I can't speak for anyone else, but I know that I have been taken out of school early for special occasions and trips by my parents, and did not suffer from the missed day(s). We have tried really hard to be as fair as possible throughout this process, and have openly asked for people's input and opinions. To try to be as fair as possible, we even conducted the survey for the date twice. At this point, we hope that as many people as possible will be able to attend, but we must proceed with making sure that everything is of the highest caliber for those that are able to attend. We will NEVER be able to obtain one date that will accommodate everyone. I truly hope that people will not get stuck on the date, and just disregard coming all together. If you are not able to come, that is understandable. If you can come, don't miss out an extraordinary time, just because the date might not have been what you desired.

Thanks Clara! I only voted once. WHen did the 2nd voting take place? Didn't get that bulletin! But anyway! I am not consumed by a date ONLY with us ALL having peace and a great time! So you all please get things rolling and let's just let the past be the past:)If I can help please let me know!

This last one that closed at 11:59 on Monday was the second one. Did you get the email about the committees? You are listed as Co-Chair of the Children's Activities. If you accept, you can just send me a message letting me know, and you'll get more information soon. The other committees will also be listed shortly, and you'll be able to volunteer for any of those that you would like as well. I hope that you and your family are able to come. It's going to be really nice.

10/21/08 07:51 PM #29

Somika Richardson (Carr)

No I didn't have a clue! I am willing to help with whatever! If I am appointed anything I will do so. The children's committee is great. You can give me a call anytime 229-291-5048 to fill me in on things! And everyone needs to say a prayer tonight and wake up fresh with open minds! Call me:)

Since this seems to be the place where everyone can speak freely regardless of positions or what have you, then I must speak freely. I'm not harping on the past and of course as the last message to everyone stated, we are moving forward, I just am amazed at how much business this message board has seen today. I'm hoping that the same momentum that started today will continue as we get closer to the reunion and more and more has to be accomplished.

Please start checking your bulk mail or spam mail or junk mail or whatever your E-mail account calls the mail that you get from people who are not in your address book. I as the Public Relations chairperson make sure to send out an E-mail regarding everything that we do so that the class can be informed. I try to be as detailed as possible so that no one has any problem understanding what is going on. Today has been a long and tiring day.

We were all going to have to make some type of sacrifice no matter what date was selected. I know we are the most important school and class in our minds, but understand that there are several other schools (Monroe, Deerfield, Lee County, Byne, etc.) that are having a 10 year reunion next year too. There are several graduating classes (1999, 1994, 1989, etc.) who will be having there reunion at the same time. The Board had to factor all of those variables in too. I hope that a year’s notice is enough time to request to be off from work and to save money to attend.

I do appreciate all the positive feedback received. It is also very encouraging to see even those who chose another date say that they will do everything they can to help and look forward to seeing everyone at the reunion. That is truly being a team player and we are a team. We will make this reunion a success and it will live up to the expectations that we have set.
