From what I've seen so far, we've aged, but are still the same nuts that we were back then. It's going to be interesting to say the least!

A Little Humor-
FWD: NOVEMBER 5TH ETIQUETTE

After watching the final debate, it dawned on me that Obama could actually win this thing. If that happens, there will be a lot of people (some of our co-workers included) who will be afraid that an Obama presidency will usher in the end of their days. They'll be watching us on November 5th (the day after the election) for signs of the end of times.

To keep the peace and keep a lot of folks from getting nervous, I think we should develop a list of acceptable celebrations and behaviors we should probably avoid - at least for the first few days:

1. No crying, hugging, or shouting 'Thank you Lord' - at least not in public.

2. No high-fives - at least not unless the area is clear and there are no witnesses.

3. No laughing at the McCain/Palin supporters.

4. No calling in sick on November 5th. They'll get nervous if too many of us don't show up.

5. We're allowed to give each other knowing winks or nods in passing. Just try to keep from grinning too hard.

6. No singing loudly, "We've Come This Far By Faith" (it
will be acceptable to hum it softly)

7. No bringing of barbeque ribs or fried chicken for lunch in the company lunchroom for at least a week (no chittlings at all) (this may make us seem too ethnic)

8. No leaving Kool-Aid packages at the water fountain
(this might be a sign that poor folks might be getting a break-through)

9. No Cupid Shuffle during breaks (this could indicate a
little too much excitement)

10. Please no "Moving on Up" music (we are going to try to remain humble)

11. No doing the George Jefferson dance (unless you're in your office with the door closed)

12. Please try not to yell----"BOOOO YAH!"

13. Just in case you're wondering, Doing the Running Man, Cabbage Patch, or a backhand spring on the highway is 100% okay.

If I've missed anything feel free to add to the list. I just want to make sure we're all on the same page when Obama brings this thing home on November 5th.

Now go get your early vote on and let's make this thing
happen!!!

Good Morning classmates! I just want to remind everyone who has not done so by now, to get out and exercise your right to vote! You can't complain about what the leadership is doing if you don't vote. Your one vote can make a difference.

11/04/08 10:06 AM #52

Leticia Ruiz

I am reinforcing what Dereka stated....please...please VOTE today. It is time for a change and it is crucial that your vote is counted, so please take the time to step out and cast your ballot!!!

I am so filled with pride and excitement today. I honestly never thought that I would see an African American elected President.

For our generation, this is the equivalent of the Civil Rights Movement for our parents and grandparents. This is our "I Have A Dream" speech. We could never fully understand what our parents experienced under Jim Crow. However, with what we have just experienced with Barack Obama being elected, I can somewhat relate to the emotion that they felt hearing Dr. King speak in Washington.

We all should use this as a catalyst to make us work harder to be better, live better, and strive to uplift ourselves, our family, and our community. Today is a great day!

Clara Knight

I would just like to take a moment to let all of our classmates that work for Cooper know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I pray that everything works out for your good.

In an effort to help raise funds to make this the best class reunion ever, two raffles have been planned, both of which will be held before the end of the year. The first raffle will end on Thursday, November 20, 2008. 500 tickets were distributed to various classmates currently residing in Albany. The second raffle is scheduled to end on Thursday, December 18, 2008.

In order to truly make this a class effort and not abuse the good graces of the few who volunteer continuously, we are asking those classmates who are out of town to volunteer to sell the majority of the tickets for the second raffle. Though the drawing date is swiftly approaching, there is still enough time for the raffle tickets to be mailed to out of town classmates, and the money (notice we did not say tickets) to be returned in the mail.

Two successful raffles will put us well on our way to being able to secure the quality facilities that we are desiring for our reunion. Thank you in advance for all of your hard work and dedication in making OUR class reunion a huge success.
