Christine Lynch Nixon, 56, a former government contractor who spent the past 14 years as office manager of churches in Northern Virginia, most recently at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Annandale, died June 16, 2005 at Halquist Memorial Inpatient Center in Arlington. She had bone cancer.

Mrs. Nixon, an Alexandria resident, was born in Washington and raised in Annandale. She was a 1967 graduate of what is now Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria and attended Virginia Commonwealth University.

From 1970 to 1991, she did government contracting work with Stanwick Corp. and Frank E. Basil Inc.

In the 1990s, she was office manager of St. Louis Catholic Church in Alexandria. She then worked for Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Alexandria before moving to St. Ambrose in January.

About 15 years ago, she resumed her interest in singing and acting, through church groups and professional appearances. She also performed with Philomela, a women's vocal ensemble.

Survivors include her husband, Ted Nixon, whom she married in 1973, of Alexandria; a daughter, Lisa Nixon of Alexandria; her mother, Betsy Lynch of Fredericksburg; four sisters, Janis Mullaney of Southport, N.C., Nancye Meyers of Palm Bay, Fla., Diana Fierst of Christiansburg, Va., and Kelli Lynch of Fairfax County; three brothers, Dan Lynch of Fredericksburg, Richard Lynch of Manassas and Tim Lynch of Frederick.
