Danny left us while he was on vacation in Florida - can it have been nine years ago already? I was one of his pall bearers - a very difficult time for the Alton family. He was at a bluegrass festival and had plans on returning and taking his two oldest boys on a cross country road trip. Having traveled with Danny on many occassions to see various "music and cultural events," there was no better captain or rider.
Danny was one of the happiest guys I ever knew - jolly may be a better word. We did many spring and summer tours together. Even crossed paths by accident in the top row of the Oakland Collesium - weird and happy coincidence. I wish my kids could have had more time with Uncle Danny - a wise and happy old soul. As an old song goes, "Thank you for a real good time!"
