From 1974 til 1988 I lived in Murfreesboro Tennessee. Every morning for many many of those early years I listened to the Ralph Emery Show on WSM TV and listened to theTeddy Bart Show on WSM radio. I will always remember the day I was listening to the radio driving to work at Shoneys and heard this beautiful male voice singing. Then the host was talking to the singer and I could have sworn he said Tommy Johnson. I turned it up, but he never mentioned the name again. The speaking voice sounded familiar.

Later that same week I listened again and sure enough it was Tommy Johnson (OUR Tommy Johnson) from little ole Athens Alabama. I felt so proud to have went to school and sang in the choir with that boy. I told everybody for years about him.

Then when I came back home to Athens in the early 90's I saw Tommy at First Baptist Church every once in a while. He was in our Sunday School class but did not come often. I shall always remember the Easter Special the choir did one year and Tommy came out dressed as the angel at the tomb when Jesus arose and the angel appeared to Mary Magadeline. He sang and his voice was that of an angel...so perfect, so clear, so touching.

He is with the angels now in Heaven and I know he is singing.

I was there when Tommy sang that special song at the tomb. He was so kind and sweet and i think about him every time i go around the round about on Lindsay Lane. I miss him.
