Ryan Cornelius took his own life on July 8, 1993. He was 19 years old.

You might remember Ryan as the metal kid who used to play air guitar while walking down the hall with his friend, Scott Lucas. He had glasses and red cheeks. He was in the band. He wore Anthrax and Metallica shirts and a leather jacket most of the time. A lot of people made fun of him.

I had drama class with Ryan and I knew him as a very sweet kid who did a really great British accent, but he talked so quietly, nobody would know. That year I had a broken arm and a giant cast, and he used to carry my books for me from first period to homeroom. He signed my yearbook. I hope I signed his, I don't remember. I do remember that I used to talk to him in drama. I used to get made fun of in elementary school, and I know what it's like. I tried to be a friend to him.

I think it's profoundly sad that he felt it necessary to take his own life. I just hope that he's in a better place now.
