AUBURN - Bret R. Gummerson, 51, of Auburn passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Auburn Memorial Hospital. Bret was born in Auburn on Oct. 31, 1959. He was the son of the late Charles and Lucille Quinn Gummerson. Bret was employed by the New York State Department of Corrections and recently retired from Willard Correctional Facility. He as an avid fan of the N.Y. Yankees. Bret is survived by his devoted family, his sons, Eric R. Gummerson and Marc C. Gummerson; his siblings, Charla Gummerson, Craig (Linda) Gummerson, Lance Gummerson, Ellen (Joseph) Fiorenzo and Al Gummerson; his niece, Ashley Fiorenzo; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to his parents, Bret was predeceased by his nephew, Sean Gummerson in 2003. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., 197 South St., Auburn. Burial will be at Fort Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit with his family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
