UNION SPRINGS — James L. Shutter, 63, of Union Springs, passed away Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018, in the comfort of his home.

Jim was born in Auburn on April 4, 1955, the son of the late Donald and Leota Smith Shutter. Jim was employed at Hammond & Irving for 43 years, retiring as a supervisor. He enjoyed fly fishing, golfing, and cooking for family and friends.

Jim is survived by his loving family, his wife of 24 years, Cynthia Chase Shutter; his daughters, Danielle (Eric) Barendt and their children, Esme, Elin, and Emryn; and Gabrielle (James) Garcia and their children, Ava, Cruz, and Xander; his son, Paul Shutter; his brother, Donald (Adrienne) Shutter; mother-in-law, Mabel Chase; special friend, Dale Walter; and his Hammond & Irving family.

In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his sister, Judy, and father-in-law, Luman Chase.

Services will be held at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 4, at the White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., 197 South St., Auburn. Burial will follow in Fort Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 3, at the funeral home.
