AUBURN — David M. Charles, 60, of Charles Street in Auburn, left this earth on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018 to begin the next chapter of his journey.

Following a lengthy battle with cancer that he faced with strength and humor, he passed away at University Hospital, Syracuse, with his family at his side. The son of the late Edward and Virginia Kierst Charles, he was born in Auburn on Nov. 12, 1957. He was a graduate of Auburn High School, attended Cayuga Community College and proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy, LPH-9 on the USS GUAM.

Dave’s greatest passion, other than spending time with his family and friends, was coaching, all ages and sports. In his younger years, he was instrumental in the creation of Mr. Ed’s “A” League fast-pitch team with his dad, coach, and manager, Mr. Ed.
