John Carberry - Class Of 1974 VIEW PROFILE

AUBURN — John J. Carberry, 59, the loving husband of Maureen Greer Carberry, of Canoga Road, Auburn, died at home Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016 with his family at his side.

Born in Auburn, John was a graduate of Auburn High School, class of 1974. Following graduation, he furthered his education earning a degree from SUNY Delhi. For more than 17 years, John was employed as an electrical engineer at Auburn Armature before working at the Magna International, formerly New Process Gear, and most recently with Cayuga Milk Ingredients.

A consummate student, John continued to attain many hours of continuous education, certification, and general knowledge in his field. John was a proud member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, JFK Div. 1, having received his Major Degree in 1984. He enjoyed volleyball leagues at the YMCA and playing city league softball for the Ancient Order of Hibernians and later Curley’s Restaurant. His fondness of the outdoors was evident through his time spent hunting, camping, and tinkering with his Minneapolis-Moline Tractor. John’s easy going nature and unconditional love for his family and friends were just a few of the qualities that will be remembered by so many.

In addition to Maureen, his wife of nearly 35 years, John is survived by three sons, Devin, Garrett, and Timothy Carberry; his mother, Nancy Carberry; one brother, James and his fiancé, Carol Amodei; one sister, Janet Leonard and her husband, Greg Smith; mother-in-law, Anne Greer; brothers-in-law, John Greer and his wife, Cheryl, and Kevin Greer and his companion, Patricia Robinson; one sister-in-law, Margaret Drancsak and her husband, John, and several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

John was predeceased by his father, Joseph Carberry, and his father-in-law, Richard Greer.

Friends are invited to join the family for a Mass of Christian burial to be offered at 10 a.m. Friday in Holy Family Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Calling hours for John will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016 at the Cheche Funeral Home Inc., 1778 Clark St. Road, Auburn.

Members of the Ancient Order of Hibernians will meet and conduct a prayer service at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made in memory of John to the Aurelius Volunteer Fire Department.
