Mike O'Connor - Class Of 1971

 

THROOP - Mike "EggDog O' Connor, 58, of Turnpike Road, Throop, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 5,2012, at his home. He was born on July 1, 1953 in Albany , the son of the late Edmund A. and Elizabeth M. Gilligan O' Connor, and had been an area resident for most of his life. "EggDog" as he was affectionately known by his family and friends had been employed for more than 23 years at Butler Correctional Facility, retiring in 2011 . Mike was a former member of the Elk's Lodge. He enjoyed anything that dealt with the Civil War and had a vast collection of guns. He will be sadly missed by all who were fortunate enough to get to know him. He is survived by his two loving sisters, Barbara Thompson and her husband, Roy, of Atlanta, Ga., Elizabeth Tracy Passarello and her husband John Dubiel, of Liverpool; two nieces, Molly Zichettella and Carly Passarello; two nephews, Nick Zichettella and Josh Passarello; an Uncle William Yoxall; a cousin, Debra Mulvey; close friend and companion of many years, Debbie Lofft, of Auburn, her children Brianne and Jim. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn. Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Michael Conboy , officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Mike's memory to the American Diabetes Association Syracuse Chapter, 6390 Fly Road, Syracuse ,NY 13057.
