Hester Shine - Class Of 1971 VIEW PROFILE

AUBURN | Hester M. Shine, 62, of Auburn, entered God’s eternal rest Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Auburn, to Robert and the late Hattie Shine on Nov. 6, 1952. Hester cherished her son, grandchildren, and family. She always enjoyed going to watch her son coach the Cayuga County Community College basketball team. Michael Jordan was her favorite basketball player of all time. Hester was an avid bowler, Dallas Cowboys and a New York Yankees fan.

She retired from the Cayuga County Health Department after working more than 20 years. Other employment after retiring from the state included clerical work at two law firms in Auburn, work in the after school programs at Booker T. Washington Community Center, the former West High School, and Casey Park Elementary School.

Hester was a life-long member of Roosevelt Memorial Baptist Church, where she was an active member of the Pastor’s Aids Ministry up until her recent passing.

Hester leaves behind to cherish her memory a devoted son, Anthony (Courtney Hennigan) Borges Jr., of Auburn; five sisters, LeElla Coleman, of Detroit, Mich., Agnes McLeod, of Savannah, Ga., Robin Smith, Diane (Terry) Ford, and Patricia Shine, all of Auburn; two grandchildren, Anthony III and Ava Borges; aunt, Willean Anglin, of Detroit, Mich.; 11 nieces and nephews; 21 great-nieces and nephews; one great-great-niece; host of cousins and friends, and two special friends, Ester Williams and Virginia Jones.

Friends are invited to call from 11 a.m. to noon Friday, Nov. 6, 2015 in Roosevelt Memorial Baptist Church, 101 Fitch Ave., Auburn, with a home going service to follow at noon, officiated by Pastor Robert E. Wilson.
