Graduated from high school...Finished college...Did my time in the military... Worked...Played...Traveled the world... While on assignment at the request of my employer, I lived in several middle eastern countries for over five years: Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq, Iran, Libya, United Arab Emirates, with short stints in other places... I married a British school teacher in Seaford, East Sussex, England in 1976. We met in Kuwait of all places. She was teaching school over there. After being assigned to the home office, we settled in a suburb of Houston and from then on it was work, kids, soccer, swim team, baseball and more work...
Our oldest, Karen Louise, attended the University of Mobile on a soccer scholarship, and is now working for a veterinary clinic outside of Mobile, Alabama. Our "middle child", Mary Helen, attended the University of Texas, Permian Basin, also on a soccer scholarship, and is now a Houston area manager for a nationally known chain of fitness centers. Our last one, Stephen Thomas, finished school in 2004 and is working for a large international petrochemical company, and has been involved in the construction, commissioning, startup and operation of an entirely new process unit. The only way I can keep up with those three is on ‘Facebook’ (LOL). We finally have a couple of grandsons, Galen from Mary, and ten months later, Sutton from Stephen. Karen is still engaged, but she is "too busy" to take the next step.
After having been involved in the administration, construction and operations aspects of it for almost forty years, I retired from the petrochemical industry at the end of April, 2012. Carole, my wife of 45 years, officially retired last summer, but she is not quite ready to totally quit yet, and continues to fill vacancies at a local parochial school. Over the past twenty years, I have had both hips and one knee replaced, both of my hands repaired, a shoulder rebuilt and back surgery so that I can remain active and continue to hunt and fish and tell all of the lies associated with those activities. Looking back on it all, I must say that, so far, I have been one very lucky guy.
