Connie W Campbell

           Connie Waylene Campbell

Connie Waylene Campbell, 58, of Austin, passed from this life on Sunday, Oct.12 , 2014, in the loving company of her close friends and hospice chaplain.

Born and raised in Austin, Connie deeply loved the Hill Country and local hangouts. Plagued by health challenges throughout adulthood, she plowed on with a gritty resolve and a selfless, caring nature. Connie lived life on her terms with no retreat and no apologies. Compulsive in her habits, she had a generous spirit and an easy smile. Her wandering attention span was punctuated with nuggets of real wit and insight. She was sometimes exasperating, always caring and never boring. She left her mark on everyone she met.

Dear friends Helen Johnson and Cyndie and Chuck Waters were close companions in her last years. She also enjoyed a special longtime bond with Sandy and Carl Langbein. She is survived by her mother, Charlene Brister; sisters Penny Campbell Vasek and Shari Campbell Raesz; nieces and nephews Zachary and Sammy Jo Vasek, and Bryan and Bonnie Benningfield; and step-brother and sisters Ronnie Johnson, Rhonda Johnson Cox and Michele Simpson.

We deeply appreciate the dedicated care of Dr. Marilyn Vache and the grace and compassion of chaplain Robert Barton and nurses Al Stephens and Jaimie Cheung of Legacy Hospice. We thank Joyce Reid of Accolade Home Care and Bonnie Etnyre of Family Eldercare. To the staff of Texan Nursing & Rehab: the smokes, smiles and loving care you provided made Connie's final months endurable and memorable.

In keeping with her wishes, no services are planned. Please contact cyndie.waters@gmail.com to attend a Nov. 2 celebration of Connie's life.
