I would like to thank Benny for his help; based on a tip from him, I was able to track down Steve's brother, Mark. Mark Hernandez kindly provided me with Steve's full name and dates.
I knew Steve very well. He lived on Lakeside Dr. I lived on Loyola Lane. I used to cross the creek between Loyola Lane and Lakeside Drive where Dotty Jordan Park is at to get to his house. Michael Gutierrez, Ed Garza and Robert Ramirez and myself hung out with him daily throughout our junior and senior year. He had an older brother named Robert (family called him Bob) and a younger brother named Mark. Steve had the one and only little red Renault. It was like a 196x model. I remember when he got his first job, the first check went to his car stereo. His nickname in high school was Focus by many, but we called him Steve. Robert may still work for the IRS? Mark played rugby for a while, even after high school. Steve was slender built, but fit. He was so much fun and smart. I may have a picture with him in the background somewhere... I will dig around and look. The family lived on Notre Dame before moving to Lakeside Drive. It was heart breaking when I heard the sad news. I do remember attending his funeral. He went to Southwest Texas State University after high school. He majored in pharmacy.
