I didn't know about John until I saw it just now. I am so sorry...he was a wonderful guy and I had such a "crush" on him in high school. A good person who will be missed by many I am sure. I hope he had a happy life.....
I too, having just joined this site, had no contact with John over the last 50 years. However, I do remember him as one of the most talented athletes I have ever encountered. He was ambidextrous and could play any sport and achieve top results. His forte was baseball as I recall. I knew John through grade school and Carlmont and always admired him.
I knew John since the 6th grade. He was a very likeable person who was a wonderful athlete and an outstanding student who graduated from Berkeley. John was fun to be around and he is sorely missed. Simply put, he passed away before his time.
John and I became best of friends in a very short time thanks to our playing on the varsity baseball team together. We spent much time together in the summers of 60 and 61 going to Giant's games, picking apricots, etc. I'm so sorry we have not been in touch in the meantime and am deeply grieved at his passing.
I'm so saddened to hear of John's passing. I had such a crush on him in high school and we finally started dating some at end of our senior year and first year of college. He attended our last reunion if I recall and was still a delightful personality! Such fond memories -- he is missed!
