John was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He spent much of his time working with numerous non-profit organizations. His true passion was his family, playing at our ranch and big game hunting. We will all miss him!

Aw, Peg, and family, I am so sorry you have to lose him at such a young age. I can only imagine how much you will miss him, but I hope you feel his presence and talk about (and to) him lots...I remember him as a boy (we weren't adults then, were we?) and I remember that he was serious and kind. Hugs to all of you...

John and I were always good friends. My last name, Welty, put me near John in homeroom every year, so we became fast friends!! I was always giving him paper and pencils - but we always had fun. He delighted in calling me "Martha," my first name, which I have always disliked - and of course he knew that. I was fascinated with his interest in guns and the NRA - he would be very surprised to know that I just joined the NRA myself!! No guns in the house but I support their politics.
I pray that you will all be able to carry on - he was a great guy and I know that we will all miss him.

Very sorry to hear about John's passing. John was in almost every class of mine from 7th through 12th grade. Sorry we lost touch after graduation.
