COLVIN, WALTER, JR., 71, of Bessemer died August 12, 2009. He was Trustee of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, member of Shades Valley Elks Lodge A.F.G. Local 2207, U.S. Army veteran, and graduate of the University of Alabama. He retired as a respiratory therapist from both the Veterans Administration Hospital and Baptist Medical Center Princeton. Survivors include daughter, Valerie E. Colvin; sisters, Hazel (Robert) Townsend of San Diego, CA and Rosie Miles; and brother, Andrew (Janice) Colvin of Panama City, FL. Funeral Service is 11:00 am Saturday at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church (1400 26th St N., Bessemer), with burial in Highland Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Friday 5-8 pm at the funeral home, with the family greeting friends from 5-7 pm. The body will lie in repose at the church from 10-11 am Saturday. Poole Funeral Chapel directing.
