Ora (Lois) Howard (Beecher) - Class Of 1950

Mrs. Ora Deloris (Lois) Howard Beecher, Class of 1950,  was born May 7, 1932 to the late William Howard Sr. and Amanda Baldwin Howard.

She accepted Chris at an early age and united with Starlight Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. P.H. Hall. She graduated from Wenonah High School of Bessemer, Ala.

Moving to Akron in 1952 she met the love of her life Clarence Beecher. She united with Greater Bethel Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. G. A. Humphrey where she was a faithful member. After moving to West Akron she became a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in 1979 under the pastorate of Rev. T. DeWitt Smith, Jr. She was a member of the Mothers Ministry, Voices of Praise Choir and supported many ministries especially the Building Fund.

God blessed Ora with a gift of creativity. She was a very hard worker; she started her own office cleaning service where she cleaned many offices throughout the Akron area. She loved gardening, jewelry, interior decorating, and painting. One of her favorite things to do was to celebrate at family gatherings where she was known as the life of the party. Her favorite song was "Your Grace and Mercy."

She was preceded in the death by her parents; husband, Clarence Grubbs Beecher; daughter, Darlene F. Beecher-Gibson; siblings, William Howard, Jr. (Ham), Robert Howard (Duck) and Clarence Howard (Brother). She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter, Michelle Shadie; grandchildren, Darnell (Gladys) Beecher of Houston, Texas, Karl and Keisha Shadie both of Akron, Ohio; six great-grandchildren, Nathan, Quinton, Donavan, Jason, Kamara and Karde`aire; two sisters, Minnye L. Crenshawn of Besser, Ala. and Clara (Pastor Edward) Wheat of Akron, Ohio; sistes-in-law, Lina Mae Sanks of St. Augustine, Fla. and Ann (Robert) Chandler of Kalamazoo, Mich.; brothers-in-law, Ellis Beecher, Keith (Audrey) Beecher of Chicago, Ill., Otis (Pearl) Beecher, J.T. (Willie D.) Beecher, and Charles (Annie) Beecher all of Akron, Ohio; special friends, Carol King and Mother Jefferson; a host of nieces nephews other relatives and friends.

Services will be held on Friday, February 17, 2012 at 12 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, 1706 S. Hawkins Ave., Akron, OH 44320 with the Rev. David M. Nelson officiating. Friends may visit the church from 11 a.m. until time of service. Procession will form and condolences may be sent to 1091 Nome Ave., Akron, OH 44320.
