Joseph Shearer - Class Of 1956

Joseph Shearer, Sr, passed away suddenly, Thursday, April 2, 2015 in Hurtsburg, OH.  Joseph (Joe) was born in Birmingham AL. to the late Martin and Iphenia Lawson Shearer on April 19, 1987.

Joseph attended Wenonah High School, Class of 1956.  After graduation, he attended two years of college, and also served in the armed Forces as a paratrooper.  He retired from Reliance Electric Co, and later was employed and retired from Chardon Rubber Co.  In later years he enjoyed taxing the Amish.

He met and married Mae Pearl Davis.  Sometime later, he began to study the bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses; and later dedicated his life and was baptized on July 19, 1969.  He enjoyed telling others about Jehovah and his Son Jesus Christ, and the promises held out in the bible for all mankind.

Joseph was known by his family as “Uncle Man”, and his friends as Joe.  He was a loving husband and father, one of the nicest men you would ever want to meet.  He was dearly loved by all.

Preceding him in death were brothers: Martin Jr, Sidney Sr, Levi, Levi II, and Isa Sr.  Sisters Katie Shearer Carden, Iphenia Shearer Brand, Hannah Shearer Mobley, Mary Shearer Weeden, and Roma Shearer McConico.  He is survived by his wife Mae Pearl Shearer, His children Mary Sandra Martin (Ronald), Sandra C Jackson Wilson, Joseph Shearer Jr, (Annette), Patrick K Shearer (Jill), Michael D Shearer.  Last surviving sibling Lucy Shearer Stokes.  He also had18 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
