Life is Great! I am an 11 year survivor of pancreatic cancer with a great appreciation of life. It has changed the way I look at everything! I don't sweat the small stuff and I enjoy so many things that I used to think were mundane. It's turned my world into intense, bright, vibrant Kodachrome color. As each season or event arrives, I'm thrilled to be here to see it.
I am a very busy mother of six children ages 18-30 and am happy to be here with them.
When they were young I drove them to activities, helped them with Viola, Cello, Violin, voice and piano lessons, homework, eye exercises, school projects, and enrichment projects (like Science Fair and TSA competitions). I was Jacob's cub scout den leader and my daughters' Girl Scout co-leader--who could have seen this coming?!) I taught a 4-H ceramics class for 5 years at my kids' Jr. High School. When they got older I chaperoned Orchestra tours, took them to the symphony, and supported their music. We adopted Amber in 2010 and Jessica in 2014 and they add so much to our lives.
Now I am learning how to guide, direct, and help them as they are developing their "adulting" skills.
Sometime I'll figure out how to carve out a niche to do more things I love like reading, gardening, painting, throwing pottery on the wheel, traveling, and answering e-mails. In the meanwhile, I meditate every day and love to explore and apply the writings of Eckhart Tolle, Byron Katie, and "A Course in Miracles" and see how they mesh with my LDS beliefs. I do yoga three times a week and walk or lift weights on the other days.
From 1996 to 2003 when my 4th child was born, had my own Instructional Design business called Blue Sky Industries. I worked from home, designing computer-based training for software companies and the aircraft industry.
From 1988-1996 I worked as an Instructional Designer for IBM and then Dynix (a library-automation company). I created training programs, workshops, materials, tutorials, computer-based training, videos, and stand-up training for customers and employees. In 1996 I directed their live satellite training programs.
I eloped with Paul Buss after 6 years of courtship in 1988. It was the greatest decision I ever made. In 1989 we bought our home in north Orem where we still live.
I graduated from Brigham Young University in 1987 with degrees in English and Teaching but became an Instructional Designer instead of a teacher.
High school was great, but life is better.
