Rebecca Gilbert Guðmundsson

Moved to Los Angeles in 2000 and took on a variety of jobs including retail and background acting in the movie Transformers. In 2004, I got my BA in Liberal Studies, concentration in Children's Literature. Taught at a private school for 5 years, then moved to Uganda on 31 Dec 07 as the US Director of a small NGO. After living in a remote location as the only white person, I moved to Uganda's capital city of Kampala to work with a Montessori school. I've been helping the school develop their curriculum, train teachers, provide technical support and teach. I have also been involved with a start-up NGO called Kind Mothers Project which aims to provide support for children who can't afford school fees and spend their days on the streets. I've also helped fill another need in Uganda by creating documentary-style videos for volunteers to send back to their homes and show people what they're doing in Uganda. I enjoy making these videos and will continue to branch out, making videos for local talented artists and others that work hard to make ends meet. I enjoy traveling and meeting new people - went to Nova Scotia, Ireland, Mexico, Tanzania, all over the US and Uganda. I even had the amazing opportunity of staying in a remote mountain village on the border of the Congo!

Been living in Dublin, Ireland since 2011 -- completed my Masters degree in International Humanitarian Action & met my best friend and true love here too! Win win! :)
