After high school, I went to West GA College with every intention of leaving this town for something more exciting. I transferred to UGA, where I realized that I like small towns better. I came on back home and learned to embrace my small town roots. I finished at West GA with a BA in Sociology and Psychology and a minor in English. Later I went back to get my teaching certification. I quit my job in a local law firm and went out west for a while. I came home and met Michael Butler the musician and told him it would be cool if he drove out west with me. He did. We came home and got married. We both taught school at Carrollton City Schools and road tripped every summer all over the USA, camping, hiking and canoeing in almost every national park in this beautiful country. We stayed in the woods for days and then deeply appreciated a shower in a cheap motel. We slowed down and had kids and realized that Carrollton is our permanent base. I’ve been working part time for about 6 years providing psycho-educational services/professional mentoring to parents and teens (foster kids/juvenile offenders/substance abuser) I try to help them find the way out… I’m presently working on my Professional Counselor license and my School Counselor certification. My main job is mommy and wife. I make fried pies; go to the grocery store every day; garden; cut my kids’ blue jeans off when they get too short; and wear Teva flip-flops year round. We drive an hour every Sunday to attend our church, but other than that, we keep it simple.
School Story:
It's all a blur...but maybe a couple of things come to mind:
-Coach Lankford/Vietnam/him saying..."AHHHH-ITE" with his hand raised in the air.
-Mr. Lynch. That guy was awesome. We didn't appreciate his love for world history or his mullet enough....
-Cutting school for yearbook staff
-My black trench coat...which teens could be arrested for these days...Boy did that cause a ruckus...I still like to stir things up...
-How about in Junior High when we used to say "Face Tight" what did that mean????
-Jeff Robinson's nickname: Smoke...Did he graduate from Central? What about Jason Avery and Tommy Williams? Didn't they go to another school to play sports or something???
