Comments:

I was a paperboy all through high school and just followed along in that vein as an adult, working for Richmond Newspapers until 1986 and then moving to Georgia to work for Morris Communications at their newspapers in Athens and Savannah for 15 years. I joined CNHI (a newspaper holding company) in 2001...in Birmingham. (www.cnhi.com)

I started college in 1967 at RPI, which became VCU the following year. Along the way, I got married, had a child, and worked full time; so I didn't get my degree (BS in Business Management) until 1978. But I got it, by gosh!

I was married to Judy Gettings (Thomas Dale) from 1969 thru 1975. We had one son, Michael. She and I had a friendly divorce in 1975, and we both remarried (other people!) in 1977. I married Marie Trice, and she and I have never had any children. Just never got around to it...

I have a granddaughter, Amber, from my son's marriage. And just this summer (2014) I became a great-grandfather! Cool.

At age 60 I took up SCUBA diving with my son. We have had a couple of fabulous trips to Belize and Little Cayman. Looking forward to another one soon.

Not a terribly exciting life...but a rewarding one.

If you are inclined to reach out, I would love to hear from you. As I get older, I cherish the memories even more.

School Story:

I loved high school. I wasn't the most popular, and I wasn't a jock; but I had a respectable circle of friends (or at least friendly acquaintances) and truly loved it all. If I had to choose a time in life to get stuck in for a "Groundhog Day" experience, it would be my senior year.

Basketball was my passion, but I was never good enough to make the teams. I just couldn't play at the same level as Charlie Taylor and the other guys I admired so much. PS: All you basketball guys...you were heroes to me in those days. Thanks for the memories.

To all of you who read this...thank you for being such a great part of my life. Whether we knew each other well, or just smiled as we passed in the halls, I felt like we were family.
