Gloria Lee Christ Mindel

After Schurz, I attended the University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana where I received my B.A. In 1977 I completed my Masters in Social Work at the University of Texas at Arlington. I have been a Director of Social Services at a long-term care facility and Director of an Alzheimer’s facility, both in Dallas, Texas We moved to Missouri where Charlie taught at the University of Missouri. In 1977 we moved to Texas where Charlie was a Professor in the School of Social Work at the University of Texas at Arlington. We have two daughters Elizabeth and Allison. Elizabeth graduated from Carleton College and the University of Minnesota. She and her husband, Jamel Ostwald, a professor at Eastern Connecticut State University, live in Willimantic. Elizabeth is a software engineer. Allison graduated from Beloit College and the University of Indiana. She and her husband, Matthew DeGroot, live in Worchester, Vermont. They have three children, Tovi, Townes, and Lei. Allison is Major Gifts Officer for Vermont Food Bank, Matthew is a nonprofit management consultant. Charlie and I retired to Vermont in 2005. We live in Middlesex Vt. a town of 1,000.
Our home includes ten acres of woods, meadows, great views of mountains, and lots of wildlife. Besides enjoying these things we like to travel. We have been to all seven continents, yes that includes Antarctica and approximately 70 countries.

Swim class at 8AM as a freshman was a real treat.
