In 1960, I wonder how many of us gave any thought to where we would be in 50 years! I know I didn't! The last 50 years have been good to me. After graduating Schurz, I attended Wright Junior College and later attended Harper Community College. My career path began with a partnership in a small business and concluded in 1999 after spending 22 years with Schaumburg School District #54. Roller skating at the "Hub Roller Rink" became a three or four night a week hobby after high school and that is where I met Donna Delaney. We married in 1963 and on Valentine's Day 2010 we will celebrate our 47th wedding anniversary. Donna always tells everyone our marriage lasted because one of us is a "saint" and "it's not Gerry!" She's kidding of course! We were blessed first with a son, Gerald Jr. and then seven years after our son we were blessed with a daughter, Christine. Life was good! Our son decided he liked school and has spent the past 27 years working for Schaumburg School District #54 in Buildings and Grounds. He is good at what he does and can do amazing things with wood. Cabinetry is his specialty. He blessed us with two grandchildren. His daughter Kirby Aiden is in her first year at Mt. Mary College in Milwaukee and son Brett Daniel is a 6th grader. Both do very well academically. Christine also decided she liked school and holds a Masters Degree in Education. She taught for almost ten years but left teaching to follow a dream she held from the age of 10 ... the theatre! Under the stage name of Christine Sherrill, you might find her at some of the Chicago area's most prestigious venues. Most recently as Mrs. Kratchit in the Goodman Theatre's 2009 production of "A Christmas Carol." In 2007, she toured with the Broadway Production of "Mamma Mia" portraying "Tanya" a leading role. Christine also blessed us with two grandchildren. Twins Cameron Arthur and Connor William ... 14 years old and each as different as night and day. As with Gerald's children, Cameron and Connor do very well academically. Two children, four grandchildren ... Life is Great! Donna retired three years ago and we are living in Del Webb's Sun City Huntley. We moved to Sun City because of the lifestyle it offered. I am currently active in four of its clubs and that keeps me pretty busy. As with life in general, we have endured a few bumps along the way but in all honesty, my life has worked out better than I could have ever dreamed!
