I last saw Barb in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, the year she and her husband, Ron, were on their way to China. They had a stopover in Tokyo and we were able to spend a day visiting together. Barb had such a zest and enthusiasm for life and she and Ron made some amazing travels around the world. I thought they were so brave to be traveling in Asia during the time of the swine flu epidemic but nothing would deter their travel plans even though she was on chemo at the time. Barb's career was in nursing. I will always recall the good memories we had in high school along with the special time we spend together that day in Tokyo. I'll miss seeing you, Barb....
Barbara was a close friend throughout high school. After graduation we both became Registered Nurses and moved away from Chicago. Though the years passed we always managed to keep in touch and saw each other on many occasions or joined her and Ron on vacations. She was always ready for a new adventure and wasn’t daunted by a challenge. She had a positive outlook on life. Even with a serious medical problem, it didn’t keep her down. Her E-mails were always hopeful and joyful. Her faith was strong and family was the most important. I will miss her bright shinning light in a world that seems darker without her.
