Wait - that was it - Miss Von Horn, I think she was the one who wouldn't teach because she wanted a transfer - but maybe she was still working when you had her. I had Zelden for chemistry, and what was pretty funny is that I took it the year they introduced "chemistry for the non-math/science majors" - the class was loaded with music and art majors - and from what we heard from our friends in other classes, it was actually more difficult than the regular chemistry class! Still, I liked Mr. Zelden over all, he had a sense of humor buried in there. When the chorus ran around the building singing Christmas carols he told us to come back when we knew some Jewish songs, so the next year we had "O Hanukah" all ready for him.

Yes one good thing about MS Klinger was that we had to do essays every week and speak in front of the class that sure helped my shyness and public speaking after that. Mr. Potts was a cool Chemistry teacher I enjoyed his class as well as Ms. Hayden for Spanish.

I had Chemistry For  Dummies also and yes it was tough -- and I made it harder for myself by perusing scores when I should have been focused on molecules. I had a good teacher (she'd just come to Lane from Evanston Township H.S.), but I have forgotten her name.  She had a good sense of humor and wrote in my yearbook, "Just remember, H2O is H2SO4.."

I meant "H2SO4 is NOT H2O."  Sheesh!

Thank you so much Mr. Fazio for the 1975 Graduation footage!!

It's priceless!

Thank you Mr. Fazio for the graduation video.  Priceless. I remember so little of it.  Aging joy I guess!

Joseph Fazio

You are welcome.  Also, check out the graduation program that was distributed on the day of the ceremony, i.e., Tuesday, June 10, 1975, Its link is listed on the homepage of this website. It has the names of all of us who graduated that day.

I graduated that day but wasn't in the program because I flunked biology in the 3rd quarter.

Thank you Joe and everyone that submitted all the memorabilia, and to those that put all of this together. High school was actually more fun than I remembered, until the memory jogs. Can't make the reunion dinner but cannot wait for the Saturday morning tour. Hope to see many of you!  Greg, your Patrol Boy at the Addison entrance. . . Still amazed we stopped traffic like we did. . .

SO, we get to tour only the first floor for 2 hours, then have to kill 6 hours to pay $60/person for Sub sandwiches? angry  Looking less appealing by the moment.

Andrew Schultz/Collins

I'll stick up for the committee for a moment. The tour issues are last minute changes beyond their control. I personally know how hard it was to get any kind of tour on this day. Lane is a busy place these days. And the tour is free.

There was never any secret about the food that will be served at the reunion. If one felt/feels that the cost (which was also cheaper on early registration) was too much to serve food, have a program book, rent a venue, etc., then one had/has the option to not register/attend. Some of your classmates (I'm not on the committee...) have worked very hard and put in many hours pulling this together.

And I have always found it pretty easy to kill 6 hours in Chicago.

Go Lane!

Thanks Andrew, that was a very good response. I've spoken with a couple people on the committee and they really are doing their best to make this a fun and memorable event.

Until you get involved, no whining allowed. GO Lane!

6+ hours between visiting the school and the actual reunion is good planning??  And the school can't have one day a year when alumni can see the whole school not just part of the 1st floor.

frownGuess you really can't go back.

Still would love to find out why they made us swim in the nude with only swim caps on, doubt anyone even really knows why anymore.  I'm guessing they finally dropped that "Right of Passage" surprise

Andrew Schultz/Collins

gee, gosh, you're right Doug.....I'll speak to the school and every year's class in Lane's history that's planning a reunion, and see if we can't all plan our reunion on the same day, so that the school can put aside one day a year for alumni to tour the whole place. Oh, and I'll make sure to schedule the tour RIGHT before dinner time.

I'll get back to you on that.

I went by IAHC today and was told that if anyone can't drive home tomorrow night,

they can leave their vehicle in the lot, it won't be towed overnight.

Thanks to the commmittee for putting this together.  Don't get upset by armchair comments from the peanut gallery.

I work 2nd shift and just got up a while ago. Hated to skip the tour and plan on hitting it another time, maybe after the exterior work is done. BTW, thanks for allowing a Class of '73 attend your function  I was too ill to attend my own 40th. See you all tonight!

Thank you to all those that arranged and led the school tour today. For those that skipped it, well we went all over the first and second floors. Amazing history. Even more amazing how today's class carries the legend of Lane forward. And it was great seeing old friends!  Thanks again for a great anniversary!  Greg

To the naysayers,

Go ahead & TRY to arrange an event like this & then complain. I know, just from planning a simple wedding 6 years ago, it ain't easy...OR cheap! I'm extremely grateful to all who helped put this thing on & for all your time, effort &, I'm sure, frustration. It's very easy to see someone do a job well & claim that it's easy & that you could have done better. Any volunteers for the next one???

Thanks again to Kevin & crew. I'm sure comments afterward will be in well deserved praise!
