Hawaii!

I was in German Club and still like to polka. I camped for the first time with them and grew to love the outdoors. I didn't do competitive sports, but started skiing with the Ski Club and still do now. I also love kayaking, hiking, and swimming.

Our German class went to Berghoff's downtown with Frau Mauersberger.

I joined the Army to get money for school, got a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Studies at Northeastern Illinois University, and moved to Massachusetts where I tried being a travel agent first and then got a Master's in Regional Planning. In the Army, I was stationed in Korea and New Mexico. Later I joined the Air Force Reserve and went to school in Mississippi. I retired in 2013 after 22 years. I've continued to volunteer in the outdoor and environmental field, leading trips and serving on Executive Committees. I now volunteer for the Sierra Club, and do river cleanups when I can. I love to travel, and have been all over New England and parts of the western U.S., Jamaica (3 times), Hawaii 3 times, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Cancun, Bermuda, and Belize. My husband of 15 years and I recently went on a great Mediterranean cruise that stopped in Barcelona, southern France, Corsica, Pisa and Rome. We then travelled up northern California and Oregon, staying in AirBnB's every night. Life can be good.

Lately I've been doing a lot of Meetup groups that play board games, have bonfires on the beach, kayak on lakes, go dancing at the many bars in the area, and walk in the canyons and the beach. I've enjoyed many of my old favorite bands (like America, Kansas, Earth, Wind & Fire) at the bayside venues here in San Diego. Carlos Santana drew a huge crowd at the university last summer! We're planning a last ski trip in the mountains east of LA next month, before moving to Florida to be closer to my mom.

Travel more, join the Peace Corps.
