Gilbert M. “Mike” Brown, 71, of Chillicothe, died at 9:35 a.m. on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at his residence. He was born on June 6, 1944, in West Palm Beach, FL, the son of Gilbert E. and Margaret A. VanWijk Brown. On February 20, 1966 he married the former Barbara Ann Hardin, who survives.
In addition to his wife, Mike is survived by his mother, Margaret Brown of Chillicothe, his children; Diana Lynne Brown, Kelley Sue (Mark Sullivan) Brown all of Frankfort, Scott Michael (Tonya) Brown of Connely Springs, NC and Adrian Eugene (Belinda) Brown of Redfield, NY, seven grandchildren; Kendra Diann Millisor, Jordan Penn Millisor, Ian Scott Brown, Gabrielle Marie Brown, Sophia Esther Brown, Garrett Eugene Brown, Teagan Michael Brown, three step grandchildren; Jahred, Olivia and Ethan Russell, one daughter-in-law; Elaine Brown of Sandy Creek, NY. He was preceded in death by his father Gilbert E. Brown.
Mike was a 1962 graduate of Chillicothe High School where he was Drum Major of the Cavalier's Marching Band. He was active in Boy Scout Troop 18 where he earned his Eagle Scout award. Mike proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Viet Nam War. He earned his degree from DeVry University. Mike worked at Mead Research in Chillicothe and in 1977 was transferred to Sandy Creek, NY. He worked as a Senior Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer. He retired in 2002 from Felix Schoeller Technical Papers in Pulaski, NY. Mike was an Emergency Medical Technician having volunteered in both Chillicothe and with N.O.C.A in Pulaski, NY. He was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Chillicothe and held membership in the Instrumentation Society of America.
A funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday, February 22, 2016 in the Tabernacle Baptist Church, Chillicothe with Pastor Rick Hartley officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort with military honors being accorded by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may visit Mike’s family at the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m

 I am so saddened that Mike has left us but rejoice in knowing that he is with his Savior in Heaven.  Mike was one of the kindest people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He will be missed by his family,church​ and friends! I am thankful for having shared many years of calling him my friend.
