Art Mitchell

ARTHUR L. MITCHELL, JR. Arthur Lee Mitchell, Jr., 47, of 7536 County Road 550, Frankfort, died in the emergency room at Medical Center Hospital at 4:07 a.m. April 20, 1991, following an apparent heart attack. He was born Dec. 13, 1943 in Chillicothe to Arthur Lee and Mary J. Collins Mitchell. On Aug. 22, 1964 he married the former Susan E. Snow, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Brenda McCorkle Gahanna, and Amanda Mitchell, at home; one son, Arthur L. Buddy Mitchell III, Frankfort; his mother, Mary Mitchell, Chillicothe; four grandchildren, Meghan and Brandon McCorkle and Whitney and Mahle Mitchell; one brother, Dennis Mitchell, Chillicothe, a sister, Connie Riley, Chillicothe; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father. Mr. Mitchell was sales manager for First Capital Enterprises and was the former owner of the Scooter Shop. He was a life member of the American Motorcycle Association and a member of Chillicothe Enduro Riders. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Haller Funeral Home with Rev. Mario Serragllo and Rev. Hubert Salley officiating. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hallers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ross County Heart Association.

Art was a good friend in my teen years. He lived just up the road from me at the end of Pawnee. We spent many hours in his dad's garage (the concrete slab is still there) working on motorcycles while listening to "The Big Bopper" (Art's favorite). He actually wore a groove through the record from playing it so frequently. Art loved motorcycles and admired his dad who was a good rider. If you didn't know Art, you missed knowing a fine guy.
