Betty succumbed to ovarian-cancer in April, 2008, just as she retired from teaching Spanish in Middletown, Ohio. Although my twin-sister remained single, she highlighted her 35-yr. HS career by traveling summers, with groups of students, to either Spain, Mexico, or South America. Betty also spent considerable time lodging with Spanish families in order to familiarize herself even more with their daily speech-patterns--and she took the time to relay this kind of learning to her students.
I too have lost a sibling and know that not a day goes by that I don't think longingly about that missing part of my life. Thank you to Bob for sharing the sad news of Betty's passing.

Betty was a good friend from elementary school. I am sad to hear that she passed away. My sympathy to her twin brother, Bob, also an old friend.
