The USAFA Prep School class of 1970 lost JOHN STEVEN DICK on 16 August 2011 in Cordova, Alaska.

Born October 10, 1951, in Buffalo, NY, Steve passed away August 16, 2011 in a plane accident in Cordova, Alaska. Steve was raised in Kansas City and graduated from Shawnee Mission South in 1969. All throughout high school, he was a member of the Carriage Club hockey team. He attended the Air Force Academy and graduated from the University of Kansas with a journalism degree. He worked for WDAF Channel 4 TV and KMBZ radio in Kansas City, and was employed as Media Conference Manager at St. Francis Health System in Tulsa, OK, for 33 years. Steve was a passionate, experienced outdoorsman and photographer who shared his enthusiasm with his wife, family, and friends. He never met a stranger, and was a loyal and loving friend to all. Predeceased by his father, Harry, he is survived by his mother, Shirley, of Overland Park, KS, his wife Jane, and his sister, Robin.

Mike Edwards

Steve was my first roommate at the Prep School.  Recontacted with him through this site over the past couple of years and we kept saying we needed to get together and visit again.  This is just a reminder that we all should stop putting off things for another day.  Steve was a good guy and my prayers go out to his family.
