In Memory

Roger Stillwell

The USAFA Prep School class of 1970 lost ROGER H. STILLWELL on 19 February 2006.

Roger graduated from Stanford University in 1975 and was a two-time, first-team All American football player, going on to star for the Chicago Bears for four years until a horrific knee injury ended his career.  He was one of several football players featured in the HBO documentary Disposable Heroes. Roger coached football at Novato High School in the late 1980s and recently was inducted into the Stanford Athletics Hall of Fame.  He was a member of the pastoral staff for the Open Door Christian Church in Petaluma, California.  Survivors include his son, Brett; his mother Jerri; two sisters; and his financee, Bethany Moellers.

In the Name of the King of kings and Lord of lords, I offer prayers of compassion for the family, friends and teammates of Roger Stillwell. Jesus Christ has blessed us with time to be around this outstanding brother and football player!

I praise and thank our Savior for hearing about the ministry Roger was a part of! To win games is one thing, to win souls is beyond words! To all those who encouraged Roger to devote his life to sharing the Gospel message, thank you.

To his beloved family and friends, I join with my classmates in lifting his soul to the One who holds the keys of Heaven and eternal life! A place of "no more tears, pain or sorrow!" Revelation 21

We give thanks to the Lord who allowed us to share a part of the journey of life from San Antonio to Colorado Springs with this Warrior.

With all respect,
Chaplain, Col Lyle E. "Von" Seggern, USAFR

I had the miss-fortune to play against Roger at the Prep School. A true ANIMAL.  One of my best friends at the Prep-school
