After high school, I attended College of Saint Mary in Omaha and obtained a BA in Music Education. I graduated from college in 1987 and got married to Leroy Semerad from Howells, NE on December 26, 1987. At that point, I taught private piano lessons to around 40 students while my husband Leroy built his own General Contracting business. In 1991, I began a job as the Music Director at St. Bonaventure where I stayed for 6 years. At that point, motherhood became my priority and I decided to be a stay-at-home mom. That was a big decision for me to make because I really loved my job at St. Bonaventure. For the last 10 years, I've stayed at home to nuture our children and help my husband with his growing construction business. Sadly, 5 years ago, my mom died after dealing with a brain tumor for 18 months. I've continued as a church musician at St. Bonaventure's where we are parishoners and have recently started a new job as music director at St. Isidores, where I attended as a child. I decided that it was time to go back into the working world and help contribute to the Semerad Family College Fund. Our oldest child, Matthew has just started college at St. John's University/College of St. Benedict in Collegeville, Minnesota while our youngest is just starting kindergarten. All of our children are also budding musicians. Of course, they all must take piano lessons and currently they all are taking lessons except for our youngest. Other instruments that are in use at our home include, baritone, French Horn, Guitar, 3 cellos, oboe, flute, and tenor saxophone. Oh yes, I am also currently taking trapset lessons! For the last 10 years while bearing and raising our children, I've enjoyed being a member of the school board, landscaping our acreage, taking care of my parents' health issues, traveling in the U.S. and abroad in Europe, singing and accompanying for weddings and other church ceremonies, and really enjoying being a wife to Leroy and mother to our brood of seven.
