Hello everyone. It has been a long time and my life's journey has been filled with so much good stuff over the years, but a part of me always knew there was a way home. I have lived out of state most of my adult life; Louisiana, Maryland, and North Carolina. Out of high school, I married Wil Duncan, Sr. and our three wonderful children were born to this marriage. For several years I was in retail management and one day I overheard one of my staff members sharing with a customer how she wanted to retire because of how tired she was of working, but couldn't afford. That conversation was the catalyst that propelled me to enroll in a HBC, Shaw University in Raleigh, NC, where I completed a Business Admin. Bachelor's Of Science degree with honors. My mantra was "they couldn't pay me to teach anybody's kids!" God has a good sense of humor....my first job upon completing my degree was at a Job Corp Center teaching problematic kids who were one step from going to prison; how is that for God rearranging your best made plans!
Later I was recruited to teach in a youth felon prison for a community college. Teaching in a correctional environment was an experience that was the most humbling and rewarding part of life's journey. I must make note here that I realized how blessed I was to have had my parents, home, family, friends, and formative years educators who shaped my character and value system. Soooo, I have been in Correctional Ed. for about 15 years. I eventually completed my Masters Degree in Adult Education and Distance Learning at University of Phoenix.
In addition to my adult children, I have three grandchildren, Symone, Sydney, and 7yr. old Lamar; two great-grandchildren, 3yr. old Mazen and 1yr. old Charli.
